2009 sees the 27th Keelboat Week at Abersoch. The Regatta will also be the North Wales IRC Championships and will be raced under the burgee of SCYC.
Racing will be held for IRC1 and 2 and Sportsboats. As in both 2007 & 2008, the success story that is the 'Gentlemens Class' will be held again. This has proven very popular with the fleet growing again in 2008. This series will comprise of daily coastal races. One design classes with more than 10 entries will have their own start. With new and simplified courses, round the cans and a coastal race for all classes.
Keelboat Week has been enjoying increased entries in recent years, with standards well up with racing keen and well organised. SCYC enjoys a reputation for excellent race organisation and Cardigan Bay has to be one of the best yachting venues in th UK.
Visiting yachts can be assured of a warm welcome. Visitors can choose between a marina berth at Hafan Pwllheli - Pwllheli Marina Complex or can have a visitors mooring in the sheltered waters off South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club. The Clubs full facilities are open to visiting yachtsmen and their families.
The venue offers pristine sailing waters with no commercial traffic. Tides, such as they are, are fair, local knowledge will not play a part in this Regatta. For families left ashore, the beaches offer clean sand with warm and clear waters. On calm days you may even see dolphins playing close offshore.
The Social arrangements are now in place with a variety of events planned. There should be something for everyone here
Please note - The Entry form can be found at the end of the Notice of Race.
Whats new!
Keelboat Week 2008 turned out to be a classic mixture of great racing and social. For results go here, and for pictures of the event go to John Wormalds Totally Abersoch site. More pictures are on the Offshore Rules Website.
So, the On-the-water was just as good as ever, with the social even better than last year. We will be working to make 2009 better again.
See you there!
